The spouse of the suspended Mayor of Koidu City Council, Mrs. Hannah Lamina, has been unlawfully dismissed from her position as District Administrative Manager of Partners In Health Sierra Leone.
The pigheaded Human Resources Director at PIH-SL, Mr. Alusine Bangura claimed in the letter of dismissal dated 24th March, 2017 that Mrs. Lamina made a financial commitment to the Sierra Leone Commercial Bank (Kono Branch) on behalf of Partners In Health, to a member of staff without authorization. “Financially committing the organization to a financial institution without authorization compromises PIH reputation, service delivery standards, and donor accountability”, Mr. Bangura stated in his letter of dismissal.
Mrs. Lamina made it abundantly clear at a recent press conference in Koidu City that the loan guarantor form she signed in favor of Mr. Joseph Sahr Ansumana for Le6m (Six Million Leones) at the Sierra Leone Commercial Bank (Kono Branch) did not, in any way, commit PIH-SL to any financial liability. And the loan has been repaid in full even after Mr. Ansumana was sacked.
Shockingly, Mrs. Lamina was unlawfully sacked from PIH-SL whilst she was on an approved sick leave. The sick leave was duly approved by Dr. Ryan Edward Azcueta, PIH-SL Medical Director in Sierra Leone.
According to a civil society activist in Kono, Mrs. Lamina was sacked out of malice and she now sees herself as a victim of political victimization.
She told a news conference in Koidu City that she was sacked “without following due process as spelt out in the Sierra Leone Labour Laws and PIH National Staff Human Resources Manual”.
Mrs. Lamina’s sacking has left several questions unanswered. Why was Mrs. Lamina sacked when she was on sick leave? Was there any committee set up to investigate the reason (s) given for her unlawful dismissal? Who are the hidden political hands behind Mrs. Lamina’s unfair dismissal and a blatant abuse of her human rights?
Even though Mrs. Lamina has been dismissed, PIH-SL has refused to pay her benefits in full. Why? Is it because she is the wife of the suspended elected Mayor of Koidu City Council, His Worship Saa Emerson Lamina?
Meanwhile, the Global Times has reliably learnt that, Mrs. Lamina intends to take legal action against Partners In Health-Sierra Leone in due course.
The Global Times is now investigating how Mr. Alusine Bangura came to be appointed as Human Resources Director at Partners In Health Sierra Leone even though he does not have the minimum qualification (s) for the job.
