Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to the UAE (United Arab Emirates), Ambassador Siray Alpha Timbo suddenly passed away in the Senegalese capital, Dakar in the early hours of yesterday.
Ambassador Siray Timbo had traveled to Sierra Leone to register as a voter in his home town of Rokulan in the Bombali district but did not return to his station again.
Family sources confirmed yesterday that after he fell critically unwell, he was evacuated to Dakar, Senegal for urgent medical attention.
The death of Ambassador Timbo has shocked the nation. He is the third senior Sierra Leonean diplomat in active service to die within a period of almost three months.
The first to die was Ambassador Ibrahim Bakarr Kamara (Orsoya) followed by Orya Sankoh and now Ambassador Siray Timbo.
Before his appointment as Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to the UAE, Ambassador Siray Timbo was the Chairman of NATCOM (National Telecomunications Commission) and a senior partner at IDEAS Sierra Leone, an architectural firm.
Ambassador Siray Timbo will be greatly missed by many people for his generosity and gentle mannerism.
