APC Flag Bearer Aspirants & Their Chances (Part 4)

We continue with our series on APC flag bearer aspirants and their chances of leading the party and the country after the March 7, 2018 Presidential, Parliamentary and Local Council elections.

In the past three days, we have assessed the chances of three important flag bearer aspirants namely; Hon. Ambassador Victor Bockarie Foh, Joseph F. Kamara and Dr. Kaifala Marah to lead the APC party and the country after elections in March 2018.

In Part 4 today, we assess the chances of Ambassador Alimamy Petito Koroma to lead the APC and the country after crucial elections in March next year.

As earlier stated, we will limit our assessment of the APC flag bearer aspirants to the period that, the APC has been in power since 2007 to date.

Ambassador Alimamy P. Koroma

When the APC swept to power in 2007, under the leadership of President Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma, Ambassador Alimamy Petito Koroma was appointed Minister of Trade and Industry.

After a relatively brief spell in the Trade Ministry, Ambassador Alimamy P. Koroma was moved to the vital position of Minister of Works, Housing and Infrastructure. That appointment put him in a strategic position in the implementation of President Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma’s Agenda for Change and Prosperity.

As Works and Infrastructure Minister, Ambassador Alimamy P. Koroma presided over the biggest road infrastructure development in the country.

He was later relieved of his Ministerial duty and left out in the cold. Ambassador Alimamy P. Koroma was brought back into the government but with a different role. He was appointed as Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China.

Ambassador Alimamy P. Koroma decided to resign from his top diplomatic job in China after President Koroma finally succumbed to international pressure by agreeing to abandon his more time ambition.

Ambassador Alimamy P. Koroma has a wealth of administrative experience, having served as Secretary General of CCSL (Council of Churches in Sierra Leone).

Chances To Lead The APC

Ambassador Alimamy Petito Koroma has contributed greatly to the development of the APC party. Until recently, he was the party’s District Chairman in Kambia. As District Chairman, he contributed greatly to the upkeep of many party officials in that part of the country. He built a magnificent party office in his home town of Mambolo in the Kambia district.

Ambassador Alimamy Petito Koroma is undoubtedly one of the most popular APC Politicians in the country. He is down-to-earth, very friendly and easily accessible. On top of that, he is a very generous man.

Ambassador Alimamy Petito Koroma stands a better chance to become President of Sierra Leone if he gets his party’s nomination in September this year. Many people see him as a very charismatic grassroots Politician.

His supporters believe that, in any free and fair contest for the leadership of the APC, Ambassador Alimamy P. Koroma will emerge victorious.

His supporters have always insisted that, all they want the party’s top hierarchy to do is to provide a level playing field for all the aspirants to show what they are capable of doing and what they have done for both the party and the country. We wish him good luck.

In Part 5 on Monday, we shall be assessing the chances of Alhaji Alpha Kanu alias the Apprentice to lead the APC and his chances of becoming President of the Republic of Sierra Leone in March 2018.
