APC MP Robbed

The All Peoples Congress Party (APC) Member of Parliament, Honourable Claude Daniel Melvin Kamanda representing the Rural Constituency at Waterloo on Tuesday 1st August  2017 appeared in court to testify in a criminal matter of robbery with aggravation involving an accused Ibrahim Bangura alias No. 9.

Led in evidence by State Counsel, Lawyer J.M.S. Bull, the witness who also doubles as complainant told the court that he recognizes and knows the accused person and recalled on the day of the alleged robbery incident at his Constituency residence at off Motor Road, Newton in the Western Rural of Freetown.

The prosecution witness said he recalled on the 16th April 2017 whilst he was at the above home address together with his boys sleeping.

Whilst sleeping, the witness said that he heard a noise at his compound gate and when he woke up to enquire he suspected that the house was under attack.

He went further to state that he together with one of his boys moved towards the front door.

In the process of preventing the door from being broken into, the witness told the court that the robbers overcome them and forcefully entered the house with a silver machete.

In the house, Hon. Kamanda said the accused headed to his bed room and threatened to kill him.

He said robbers tied his two hands while the accused was busy searching the room and took away Ipad, 2 Laptop, Dell computers, 4 mobile phones including his official Member of Parliament phone and physical cash.

The witness added that he later shouted when neighbors came to his rescue. The neibours then led him (Hon) to the Newton Police post where he made a statement.

The witness said he was later called at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Headquarter where he identified the accused person.

The accused Ibrahim Bangura alias No. 9 is arraigned before Magistrate Albert Moody of Court No.1 on a Preliminary Investigation on one count of robbery with aggravation contrary to law.

The accused is also one of the alleged armed robbers that carried out a daylight robbery at Mercury International.

The accused is not represented by legal counsel and has been remanded at the Pademba Road Male Correctional Centre in Freetown. The matter has been adjourned to the 8th August, 2017 for further hearing.
