The ruling All People’s Congress party (APC) has suffered a huge political blow in the Eastern district of Kailahun ahead of the 2018 Presidential and Legislative elections following the resignation of a former party strongman in the district.
Lamin Vonjo Ngobeh, who was a lion in the ruling party’s successful fight for a Parliamentary seat in the Constituency 003 in Kailahun district in the 2012 general elections has resigned from the party with immediate effect.
“I wish to tender my resignation as a member of the All People’s Congress Party (APC) with immediate effect”, the letter reads.
Mr. Ngobeh also notes in his letter that he was resigning from the party as he can no longer withstand the corrupt and undemocratic nature of the APC party.
“I can no longer continue to be a member of a corrupt and an undemocratic institution”, Vonjo states in his letter.
Afterwards, Vonjo told Global Times that further to his resignation from the APC he will be issuing a full statement soon, spelling out compelling reasons why Sierra Leoneans should vote the APC out of power in the 2018 elections.
He said the APC is bad for the country as it is bad for the economy.
