Magistrate Hannah Bonnie deputizing Magistrate Albert Moody of Freetown Magistrate Court No1 yesterday remanded six alleged armed robbers at the Pademba Road Male Correctional Centre for the murder of one Hawa Rosaline Pambi in Freetown.
The six accused persons including Peter Momoh Bockarie, Gesi Basur, Joseph Collier, Lansana Sawanneh, Mohamed Sulaiman and Foday Bangura face a Preliminary Investigation of three counts charge of conspiracy, larceny in a dwelling house and murder contrary to law.
The particulars of offence state that the accused persons on the 4th July 2017 at Regent Road, Lumley in Freetown conspired together with other persons unknown to rob and murder the deceased.
In his evidence in Court, the first Prosecution Witness Abdul Benson told the Court that he recalled on the above date whilst on duty at the Lumley Police Station when the first accused, Peter Momoh Bockarie was brought in by civilians on report of burglary and murder involving the late Hawa Rosaline Pambi.
Upon the report, the witness said a team of Police detectives headed by the Regional Commander Western Area left for the scene of crime at No. 67 Regent Road Lumley.
On arrival, the witness said they discovered the corpse of Mrs. Hawa Rosaline Pambi lying in her bed room floor with an electrical cable tied around her neck with suspected blood stain on the bed.
The witness continued that during the search, they saw a long kitchen knife and black torchlight which they brought to the station as exhibits.
The corpse was then conveyed in an ambulance to the Connaught Hospital mortuary for autopsy.
The six accused persons were later arrested and brought to the Lumley Police Station for investigation.
The witness furthered that himself together with his colleague officer 13188 Musa obtained voluntary caution statement from the third accused person, Joseph Collier and others on separate dates.
The matter was adjourned to the 15th August 2017 for further hearing.
