Dr. Sarah Bendu Returns With Honorary Degree

The Executive Director of SLRSA (Sierra Leone Roads and Safety Authority), Dr. Sarah Bendu has returned home from Dubai,UAE with a honorary Doctorate degree from the renowned London Graduate School. Dr. Bendu who left the country last week was awarded a honorary Doctorate degree in Public Administration (DPA).

Earlier, the Executive Director had received another Master’s degree in Leadership and Management majoring in Corporate Social Responsibility.

The London Graduate School better known in renowned academic circles as LGS nominated the Executive Director at SLRSA (Sierra Leone Road Safety Authority), Dr. Sarah Finda Bendu to receive a Honorary Doctorate Degree of the Commonwealth University.

Dr. Bendu was among an array of distinguished persons from across the world selected in recognition of their achievements and contributions to the development of the world.

At the Raintree Hotel, Rolla Street, Bur, Dubai in the UAE (United Arab Emirates) where the event took place on 26th July, 2017, Dr. Bendu stood tall among her colleagues after receiving two degrees, a honorary Doctorate and a Masters in Leadership.

The height of great men is not achieved by sudden flight, but by their hard work and dedication to duty.

Over the years, the Executive Director of the Sierra Leone Road Safety Authority, Dr. Sarah Finda Bendu has shown great devotion to duty with her unending initiatives and innovations. With an equal hard working Management and Staff and a supportive Board, SLRSA has gone through a transformation unparalleled to any parastatal in recent times.

No wonder therefore that in recent months, Dr. Bendu has received so many meritorious awards and accolades presented to her by various organizations and other institutions nationally and internationally.

At a recent award ceremony, speaker after speaker heaped praises and also commended Dr. Sarah Finda Bendu and the entire Management, Board of Directors and stakeholders of SLRSA for leading a change at the parastatal. The various speakers observed that the day to day administrative work of SLRSA, the sacrifices and dedication to duty was the reason Dr. Bendu was selected and recognized for the award.

Dr. Sarah Bendu explained that in developing the Road Safety Network Programme, she worked collectively with the Management in going around the four corners of Sierra Leone.

This, he said has helped in reducing fatal road accidents thereby saving lives and property.


Dr. Sarah Bendu told the Global Times in an interview that, “With God All Things Are Possible. That is why when you put your trust and hope in the Almighty God, you must be determined to work harder”, she said.

She added that whenever she was told that she has won an award (and she has won so many meritorious awards and accolades in recent times), she would always thank God Almighty for given her the foresight and strength to do her job. She noted however that even in her moment of

joy. The dedication of the SLRSA’s management and staff as well as the input of the Chairman, Board of Directors and stakeholders always comes to mind instantly. For her, it’s a collective responsibility and a collective praise. That, she said, has made SLRSA great over the years.

She said she has always humbled herself a patriotic citizen to work with all and sundry so that she can put SLRSA on the global map.

Putting SLRSA on a global map, she said will bring global recognition to the Authority as well as to the country.


She extended thanks and appreciation from the Management and Staff, Chairman Board of Directors to all those organizations and institutions that have found her or SLRSA worthy of receiving those awards and accolades. She said as a citizen she is always humbled to receive meritorious awards and accolades from those who recognized her contributions to national development.

She extended thanks to the following organizations and institutions who recognized her efforts, some of which are, Youth Empowerment and Development Association Sierra Leone (YEDA-SL) Patriotic Organization Sierra Leone, National Opinion Poll Sol Branch (NOPSIL Canada),

National Youth Led Award Scheme, (NYOLA), Hands Together for Equality and Development Sierra Leone and Tumac Radio Management.
