First Lady Opens Children’s Summit

The first National Children’s Summit for 2015 and 2030 document was yesterday launched by the First Lady of the Republic of Sierra Leone, Mrs. Sia Nyama Koroma at the Hill Valley Hotel on Signal Hill Road in Freetown.
This was organised by the Children’s Forum Network in collaboration with Save the Children Sierra Leone and other partners in development, with the theme “A Child Centered Development Agenda”.
In her keynote address, Mrs. Sia Nyama Koroma expressed thanks to the Children’s Forum Network for drafting such a summit document for the benefit of Sierra Leonean children and government.
She said that the role of children as future leaders of this nation brings hope for a better and hopeful Sierra Leone.
Mrs. Koroma stated that all the children’s advocacies in the document were in place for the future of children and the development of this nation.
She vowed to give her strong support to the children and continues to work with the government of Sierra Leone and donor partners in improving the lives of children and empowers them to achieve their dreams as future leaders.
The First Lady encouraged the children, particularly the girl child to develop their talents.
According the children’s representative, the children’s vision for the 2015 and 2030 summit is to support government in the implementation programmes towards Children issues.
She encourages the Ministry of Finance and Education to pay more premium on children advocacy programmes.
