After spending some time at the Male Correctional Centre, Brima Conteh, a former Banker at Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB) has been finally granted bail by Magistrate Binneh Kamara of Court No1 in the sum of Two hundred and fifty million Leones with two sureties in like sum.
The accused was arraigned before Magistrate Abu Bakarr Binneh Kamara on one count of Larceny contrary to Section 17 (1)(4) of the Larceny Act of 1916.
The particulars offense state that on Friday 26th September 2014 at the Guaranty Trust Bank Branch at Pepel in the Kafu Bullum Chiefdom in Port Loko Judicial District, Northern Sierra Leone the accused being a servant employed by the bank allegedly stole the sum of Seventy eight Million seven hundred and nineteen thousand Leones (Le78,719,000) and twenty three thousand eight hundred United States dollars equivalent to one hundred and sixteen Million six hundred thousand Leones.
The total sum involved is two hundred and forty five Million three hundred and nineteen thousand Leones (Le245,319,000), property of GTB.
After the matter was mentioned, the accused was granted bail in the sum of two hundred and fifty million Leones with two sureties in like sum and ordered to produce title deeds.
The matter was adjourned to 27th September, 2016
