The former National Secretary General of the main opposition Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP), Jacob Jusu Saffa has described the former UNIDO boss,Dr. Kandeh Kolleh Yumkella as “a weak and indecisive man”.
Mr. Saffa’s statement came following reports that the former UN man dodged a press conference yesterday at Kona Lodge where he was due to announce his resignation from the main opposition SLPP.
News was rife on Tuesday that Dr.Yumkella would announce his resignation from the SLPP yesterday, but the former UN man failed to turn up at the Kona Lodge where about one hundred of his supporters had gathered.
JJ Saffa said by delaying his departure from the party, the former UNIDO boss was doing himself and the SLPP no good.
He noted that although a very reliable source had disclosed that Dr.Yumkella had given a notice of leaving the SLPP to former Vice President, Solomon Berewa, he is still not man enough to leave the party.
“You cannot be in and out at the same time. If Dr. Yumkella wants to leave, let him be man enough to say it and then leave”, JJ Saffa said.
He accused Dr. Yumkella of using small boys to propel his departure, which he said amounts to political dishonesty.
“If you want to leave the SLPP, you can do so without looking for excuse to justify your decision”, JJ added.
In what was seen as a prelude to his spectacular departure, about one hundred supporters of the KKY Movement, some of them none SLPP members yesterday at Kona Lodge urged their leader to leave the SLPP.
