Konos Endorse Vice President Sumana

Paramount Chiefs, senior ruling party Politicians and the people of Kono over the weekend pledged their loyalty and unflinching support to the Vice President, Alhaji Chief Sam Sumana who was on a four-day district wide social mobilization tour. In each of the eight chiefdoms he visited, the Vice President and his entourage were presented with cattle as a traditional show of honour and love.
At Yardu Town in Gbense Chiefdom, the Paramount Chief P.C. Fengai Korgbinde Kamachendeh, on behalf of his people presented one cow and one sheep to the Vice President of the Republic and assured him of his chiefdom’s all-time support in every project he wishes to undertake in future.
The chief explained to the mammoth gathering at the community hall at Yardu that the Vice President has Kono at heart and encouraged all to forgive him (VP Sumana) for whatever mistake he may have done or caused to happen.“Remember, blood is thicker than water”, the chief said.
Presenting another cow to the Vice President at Yardu Town, chiefdom headquarter town of Gbaneh Kandor, the Paramount Chief, P.C. Edward Sahr M’briwa said his election to the present position was only possible due to the tremendous support from VP Sumana and pledged his chiefdom’s total and unflinching support to him.
He explained the Ebola situation in his chiefdom and promised that with the relentless effort of the task force, no Ebola case will be recorded in his chiefdom. P.C. M’briwa called on the Konos to unite solidly behind the VP and render all support needed for him to climb the last step in the country’s political ladder.
Other chiefdoms including Sowa, Lei, Fiama and Nimikoro also honoured the Vice President with either a two or one goat or sheep each.
The Paramount Chiefs were unanimous in their message that, as a citizen and son of a ruling house, the Vice President has all their support needed to move forward.
Addressing traditional leaders in their various chiefdoms, the Vice President expressed appreciation and gratitude to the people of Kono for the warm welcome accorded him and entourage.
The Vice President thanked them for their commitment in the fight against the deadly Ebola Virus Disease. He encouraged them to step up their efforts and help break the chain of transmission.
Among the many stakeholders in VP Sumana’s entourage were the sister of the First Lady, Madam Finda Koroma, the Chairman, Board of Directors Sierra Leone State Lottery – Aiah Songu M’briwa, the Mayor Koidu-New Sembehun Council, Sahr Emmerson Lamina, Kono District Council Chairman, Richard A.R. Konninga, APC Chairman for all the constituencies, Mr. M.W Conteh and Dr. David Tam Baryoh of Citizen Radio.
