Kroo Bay Murder Suspect Released

Preliminary investigations into the murder of one Anthony Gray at Kroo Bay have ended at the Magistrate Court and the matter was on Tuesday 16th June 2015 committed to the High Court for trial.
The accused including Sheka Sesay, Isaac Williams and Philip Daramy were arraigned before Magistrate Albert Moody of Court No.2 on two counts of conspiracy to commit a crime to wit murder and murder contrary to law.
According to the particulars of offence, the accused on the 1st January 2015 at Kroo Bay community in Freetown conspired with other persons unknown to murder Anthony Gray.
Postmortem report compiled by the Government Pathologist shows that the deceased’s death was caused by spinal cord injury, Herogenic shock and fracture of cervical vertebrate.
The report of the autopsy of Anthony Gray was done on the instruction of the Chief Medical Officer and witnessed by police officers and family members.
In his ruling in Court, Magistrate Moody said that the prosecution has proved their case in connection with the charged offence. He said throughout the testimonies of prosecution witnesses, the second accused, Isaac Williams was not mentioned in any adverse way.
Magistrate Albert Moody therefore discharged the second accused and committed the first and third accused persons to the High Court for trial. Bail was refused and the accused were remanded at the Pademba Road Correctional Centre awaiting trial in the High Court.
