Some Lebanese nationals in Sierra Leone have been complaining bitterly of the shabby treatment they normally get from some senior staff members at the Lebanese Embassy in Freetown, whenever they require consular assistance.
One of the complaints against the Embassy staff is that, whenever Lebanese nationals apply for their Lebanese Passports to be renewed, they face lengthy delays due mainly to some senseless and mindlessly complicated administrative bottlenecks.
Since the arrival of Ambassador Ms. Brigitta Al Ojeil in Sierra Leone, there has been no love lost between her administration and the community she is supposed to be representing in Sierra Leone.
It is even reported that, the Lebanese Ambassador and the National Executive of the Lebanese Community Committee in Sierra Leone are always at loggerhead over issues that have to do with the welfare of members of the Lebanese Community in Sierra Leone.
It would be recalled that, the former Lebanese Ambassador to Sierra Leone, Nidal Yahya was recalled after the Lebanese Community in Sierra Leone accused him of attempting to micro-manage the affairs of the community which was way outside his diplomatic brief.
All efforts to contact the Lebanese Ambassador, Ms. Brigitta Al-Ojeil and the President of the Lebanese Community Committee in Sierra Leone, Mr. Samir Hassanyeh proved unsuccessful late last night.
