The former Head of State and leading SLPP Presidential hopeful, Brig. (Rtd.) Julius Maada Bio last Friday joined thousands of mourners in the Northern city of Makeni to pay his last respect to a well-known Sierra Leonean entrepreneur, Dr. Vincent Lamin Kanu.
Dr. Kanu, 73 died in London on Monday 11th January, 2016 after a short illness.
The civil funeral service for Dr. Kanu took place at Our Lady Fatima Catholic Church in Makeni. He was later laid to rest at the Wusum Hotel Gardens, Teko Road.
The chief mourner, President Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma was also joined by his Vice President , Ambassador Victor Bockarie Foh and a host of Cabinet ministers, members of Parliament among others dignitaries.
Brig. (Rtd.) Julius Maada Bio who appointed Mr. Kanu as Managing Director of National Petrolum (NP) in his short stint as Head of State in 1996 described the late man as a ‘well respected entrepreneur who made a huge contribution to our economy. He was also a generous man who helped many of his compatriots”.
Until his death Dr. Kanu was owner and proprietor of the Wusum Hotel, Chairman of Leoneoil Company Limited, Director NP (SL) Limited, Director Addax Bioenergy, Director Petrol Leone (SL) Limited, Director Petrogas Industries Limited among others
