The leading and most popular SLPP flag bearer contender, Brig. (Rtd.) Julius Maada Bio returned to Freetown on Friday from London without the usual pomp and ceremony. His arrival was kept in the dark to avoid the usual crowd-pulling welcoming ceremony across the country.
Since his arrival in the country, Brig. (Rtd.) Julius Maada Bio has not been seen in any public gathering. His supporters and fan club members across the country have expressed curiousity about the unusual quietness surrounding his return to the country.
Many people believe that the SLPP 2012 flag bearer is keeping a low profile but working quietly with his campaign machinery across the country.
The SLPP is due to conduct nationwide lower level elections in the next two weeks, according to senior party sources.
Brig. (Rtd.) Julius Maada Bio is working closely with the party’s national executive to get some of the party’s supporters out of detention at the Male Correctional Centre at Pademba Road in Freetown.
All efforts made to contact Brig. (Rtd.) Julius Maada Bio proved unsuccessful last night.
