Continuing his social mobilization tour in the North of the country, the SLPP 2012 Presidential candidate, Brig. (Rtd.) Julius Maada Bio told the people of Makeni, Manjoro, Fadugu and Kabala that he was in the country to add his voice to President Ernest Bai Koroma’s call for everybody to be on their guard especially as the country has gone without a single case of Ebola for well over three weeks now, according to WHO count.
At a meeting with the Bombali District Ebola Response Coordinator, Dr. Emmanuel Conteh informed Brig. (Rtd). Julius Maada Bio that the district was recording an average of 165 deaths a week. He attributed the alarming deaths rate ‘to fear factor”. He said that although the district was Ebola free, the emerging trend was worrisome.
The Ebola Response Coordinator disclosed that they were organising community based sensitization aimed at encouraging people to take sick people to their Community Health Units.
In response, Brig. (Rtd.) Julius Maada Bio described the statistics as alarming and called on health workers and other partners in Bombali to double their efforts in the area of social mobilisation.
Before leaving Makeni, Brig. (Rtd.) Julius Maada Bio paid a courtesy call on Paramount Chief Bai Shebora Kasanga and informed him of his nationwide social mobilisation tour.
