The Chief Executive Officer of Mercury International and Chairman of Mercury International Charitable Foundation, Samir Hassaniyeh past Wednesday informed Journalists that the Charitable Foundation last year spent Five billion, three Hundred and Ninety Million, Two Hundred and Fifty-five Thousand Four Hundred and Thirty-five Thousand Leone 5,390,225, 435) on donation alone.
Speaking at the Company Head Office at Rawdon Street in Freetown, the Mercury boss also said over three billion Leones was further dished out on scholarships for school pupils and students all over the country.
He promised that a total of seven billion Leones will again be dispensed this year by the charitable scholarships for students who he said “take education as a priority”. Mr. Hassaniyeh said his organization is here to give support to the needy and complement the effort of the government in its drive to alleviate poverty in the country.
Among the recipients of Mercury International Charitable Foundation’s Sponsorship include, the Milton Margai School for the Blind, Deaf and Dumb School, One Leg Amputees, St. George Home for the aged, Sierra Leone Cheshire Home, was medical bills for treatment of cancer patients and heart operation for patients in India. Others include assistances to Sierra Leone Bar Association, Sierra Leone Police Building Projects at Lumley, OSD and Headquarters, Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ) The Mercury boss further pledged his foundation support to Sierra Leone have at all times. “We will continue this programme for many years to come” Mr. Hassanyeh said.
