Majority Leader and Member of Parliament for Constituency 52 in the Port Loko District, Honourable Ibrahim R. Bundu yesterday informed the House that the Minister of Sports, Paul Kamara has been summoned by Parliament to explain the cause of the unfriendly relationship between his Ministry and the national football governing body the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) which has attracted public attention.
It could be recalled that there was a football encounter between Sierra Leone Under-20 and their Ghanaian counterpart at the newly constructed Bo Stadium a couple of weeks ago. The result of the match, however, saw the Sports Minister sacked both the U 20 Coach Alimamy K-Foot Turay and his assistant Charlie Wright accusing them of match fixing.
Global Times is reliably informed that both the coach and his assistant continue to be in control of the Under-20 football team. It is because of the misunderstanding between the Minister and the technical team that led to Edmond Michael Foundation issuing a press release distancing itself from the decision of Alimamy K- Foot Turay to travel with the team to Ghana on the return leg, sources say.
The Minister is therefore required to shed light on the issue and perhaps some other issues relating to the promotion of football in the country.
