The Acting Director General of the National Social Security and Insurance Trust (NASSIT) Joseph Mans Jnr. has informed newsmen that his institution pays the sum of Le3.7 Billion monthly to beneficiaries and another Le2.4 Billions to 18,576 pensioners on behalf of government.
Speaking at a well attended news conference yesterday at the NASSIT conference room, Mr. Mans said the payment of government pensioners is administered by the Ministry of Finance and submit their pay roll and amount to be paid to NASSIT office. The NASSIT boss earlier informed journalists that the press conference was organized to react to the several media bashing of his institution.
In his statement, the Director of Investment Brima A.P. Kargbo gave detail analysis of how the benefits and pensions ore disbursed to respective owners. He noted that some of the beneficiaries are paid monthly, half yearly and yearly and that, NASSIT has an asset port folio of Le748 Billion.
