Pressure Mounts On Minority Leader

The Sierra Leone Peoples Party twenty-five member Parliamentary group opposed to Honourable Dr. Bernadette Lahai (the embattled Minority Leader) has brought more pressure to bear on her by reiterating their call for her to quit her leadership role in Parliament.

Speaking at a press conference in Parliament yesterday, the twenty five petitioners said they were disappointed that Dr. Lahai had still not heeded the call by the National Executive Council of the SLPP and majority of her colleagues to quit as she continues “inhibiting the smooth functioning of the opposition in Parliament”.

In his statement, Hon. Habib Munda told news men that, although the party had withdrawn the appointment of Dr. Bernadette Lahai and replaced her with Hon. Emma Kowa, she is still masquerading as the Minority Leader in Parliament.

The MPs vowed to press on until it is established that she is no longer that which she thinks she is.

Dr. Bernadette Lahai has insisted that the High Court Injunction, keeping her in the post, must be respected by law makers in her party.
