SLPP Welcomes Alie Kabba

SLPP Welcomes Alie Kabba

The National Officers of the main opposition SLPP yesterday received one of the leading flagbearer aspirants, Alhaji Dr. Alie Kabba at the party’s Headquarters in Freetown.
Dr. Kabba was accompanied to the SLPP head office by hundreds of his supporters and was received by a cross section of the national executive with whom he had wide ranging discussions.
In his welcome remarks, the Northern Region Chairman of the party who served as chairman of the occasion, Dr. Abass Bundu thanked Dr. Kabba for recognising the National Officers, noting that his visit to the SLPP head office speaks volumes of his love and loyalty to the grand old party.
Dr. Bundu acknowledged that for the fact that Dr. Kabba walked through the main gate of the party without a single incident of violence, intimidation and harassment negates the lies being spread by detractors that the party office was a no go area for flagbearer aspirants.
The National Chairman and Leader, Chief Somanoh Kapen in welcoming Dr. Kabba said his visit coincided with the end of a long court battle between the National executive and a former member of the party, Ambassador Alie Bangura. He lamented that for two years, four months the court case strangulated the party making it dysfunctional in many respect. The National Chairman afterwards called for peace and unity within the party.
In his address, Dr. Kabba said that as a proud member of the SLPP he was honoured and humbled by the welcome and the display of camaraderie particularly by the national officers.
While extolling the virtues of the SLPP, the US based Sierra Leonean Politician said whenever news from Sierra Leone was grim or the country was facing challenges of governance or peace, people look forward to SLPP for redemption as it is the last bastion of hope.
He called on all to keep those fundamental values and dreams of the fore fathers of the SLPP alive by embracing one another in an effort to kick the ruling APC out of governance in 2017.
While emphasising the need for peace and unity within the opposition, Dr. Kabba said in the march to State House, he cares more about an SLPP victory than an Alie Kabba victory.
He said he was ready to put his skill as a social mobilizer to the disposal of the party to ensure victory.
Statements were made by the Regional Chairmen, South and West, Hon Edward Soluku and Hon. Manso Dumbuya respectively. The National Treasurer, Ms. Martha Kanagbo and the National Women’s Leader, Lulu Sheriff also made statements.
