The Assistant Director (Eastern Region) in the Ministry of Social welfare, Gender and Children’s Affairs Madam Alice Jeneba Koroma confirmed last night that, she had been driven out of her office in Kenema on orders of the Minister of Social Welfare, Gender and Children’s Affairs, Dr. Sylvia Blyden.
She confirmed to the Global Times yesterday that, she fled her offices on Maxwell Khobe Street in Kenema after the locks on the office doors were broken and replaced by people acting on the orders of the Minister. “As I speak to you now, I am in Freetown and I am preparing an official report for the attention of my bosses”, she told the Global Times.
The Global Times learnt last night that, the Minister has unilaterally appointed Doris Mansaray to serve as the Assistant Director (Eastern Region) in the Ministry of Social Welfare, Gender and Children’s Affairs.
Meanwhile, it has been confirmed by reliable sources in the Ministry of Social Welfare that, the Minister has made several changes in the civil service without any reference to the HRMO (Human Resource Management Office). “The first time I learnt of these changes was on 27th May, 2017 when the information was posted by the Minister on several social media platforms”, a senior official at the Human Resource Management Office in Freetown told the Global Times last night.
Meanwhile, Madam Alice Jeneba Koroma confirmed last night that she was officially notified of the changes on 10th June, 2017.
The Assistant Director (Northern Region), Mrs. Josephine Saccoh was also replaced in a similar way. “There is pandemonium in the Ministry of Social Welfare and it appears as if our bosses are unable or incapable of protecting us from a vicious Minister”, a junior civil servant in the Ministry of Social Welfare grumbled last night.
