Following the proliferation of traditional healers or traditional doctors in various parts of the country the President of the Traditional Healers Association in Sierra Leone, Alhaji Dr. Sulaiman Kabba has issued a stern warning to all practicing traditional healers to desist from advertising themselves in both the electronic and print media.
The warning came as a result of the series of complains from the public that there are fake traditional healers posing as foreigners from Ghana, Mali, and Senegal and that they are capable of curing all types of ailments.
He said traditional healers play a very pivotal role in the health care delivery system of the country and they also collaborate with members of the Medical and Dental Council of Sierra Leone.
He noted that his association has signed a memorandum of understanding with the council and his association aims at providing health care to people suffering from various ailments.
Alhaji Kabba noted that a good doctor does not advertize him or herself in the media.
He said his association is going to embark on verification in all the 149 chiefdoms of traditional healers.
The President said they are going to work with all the Paramount Chiefs to identify genuine traditional healers, so that they can weed out the fake ones that are giving their association a bad name.
