The Sierra Leone Cable Limited (SALCAB) Board Chairman, Sorie Fofana, has intervened to ensure that all former employees of the defunct company receive their end of service and other benefits.
In a public notice dated 21st July 2021, Chairman Fofana confirmed that, he has had fruitful meetings
with senior officials of Government including the Minister of Information and Communications, Mohamed Rahman Swaray, the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Information and Communications and the Acting Director of Communications and it has been resolved that the following categories of employees will be paid their end of service and other benefits in full, on or before Monday, 26th July, 2021:
a) Supervisors
b) Officers
c) Technicians
d) All lower cadre employees.
Chairman Fofana however admonished those still in possession of properties or equipment belonging to (SALCAB) to return them to the former Internal Auditor of SALCAB before Monday, 26th July, 2021.
“Those who fail to comply with this directive will definitely not receive any payment from the Government,” Chairman Fofana cautioned.
He therefore appealed to aggrieved former SALCAB employees to exercise restraint, by not engaging in any action that will undermine the peace and tranquillity of the state and fully assured the payment of remaining staff members in due course.
“The welfare of all former SALCAB employees remains an important issue to the Government of Sierra Leone,” he assured.
