This newspaper has been reliably informed that twenty two years old Mr. David Kamara formerly of 37 Regent Road, in the central part of Freetown, is now on the run fearing for the safety of his life after he was declared wanted by the Sierra Leone Police as a person of interest in the death of an adult male, twenty one years old Mr. Lamin Bangura, believed to have been his homosexual partner.
The reports further stated that Mr. David Kamara and Mr. Lamin Bangura were for a long time suspected to be engaged in homosexual activities, a sexual activity that is not accepted in this country and which the community people considered as an abomination, insisting that those involved in such unnatural sexual activities must be killed in order to cleanse the land of such a curse.
A source who lives in the community told this Reporter that the young men and women in the community were only looking for an opportunity to get rid of both David and Lamin and cleanse their land of what they referred to as, “this unforgivable abomination”.
He explained that on the night of 17 October, 2016, as David and Lamin were returning home some young men attacked them and gave them very serious beatings which resulted in Lamin sustaining serious injuries while David managed to escape. Lamin was taken to the hospital where he died two days later.
He also disclosed that on the same night that they were attacked, David’s family house was attacked, vandalized and later set on fire which resulted in the death of David’s younger sister, Miss Mariama Kamara, and forcing his family to leave the community.
He further explained that the Police immediately went into action and made a few arrests, while they issued a warrant of arrest for Mr. David Kamara as the prime suspect in the murder of Mr. Lamin Bangura.
When this Reporter requested for him to lead him to Mr. David Kamara for an interview, he stated that he did not know his whereabouts as since the night of the attacks, David had disappeared and he had neither been seen nor heard from.
He also disclosed that unidentified people continue to visit the community in the late night hours, making threatening remarks that they will kill David the day they see him.
When this Reporter contacted the Central Police Station on the matter, a senior Police Officer told him that they are looking for one Mr. David Kamara for the alleged murder of one Mr. Lamin Bangura.
He revealed that while they are investigating the matter they have put a reward of twenty twenty million Leones (Le 20,000.000.00) for anybody who will give them information that will lead to the arrest of Mr. David Kamara.
