Sierra Leone jumped 18 places upwards on the Global Economic Freedom Ranking 2021 moving from 168 in 2020 to 150 in 2021.
This, according to economic experts is as a result of robust reforms implemented by the Government of Sierra Leone in areas like health, education and fiscal policy.
Sierra Leone is now the 150th freest in the world economic freedom ranking and has moved away from the repressive category.
In order to calculate the Economic Freedom index, the source takes 12 different factors into account, including the rule of law, governance size, regulatory efficiency and open market. All 12 factors are rated on a scale of zero to 100 and are weighed equally.
Every country is rated within the index in order to provide insight into the health and freedom of the global economy.
