A farmer who identified himself as Musa Barkotu was arrested at Sembehun, Bonthe district, by the Police dressed in Military attire posing as a Captain in the RSLAF.
He made his first appearance in court on Friday 16th April 2021 before Magistrate Sahr Kekura of Court No. 4 on Pademba Road in Freetown.
He was arraigned on two counts of impersonation contrary to Section 3 of Cap 34 as amended by section 3 of the Impersonation and Uniform (Amended) Act No. 13 of 1975 and Larceny contrary to Section 2 of the Larceny Act 1916.
According to the charge sheet, the accused, Musa Barkotu between the 1st January and 31st March 2021, at Bonthe district, posed to be a Captain in the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF).
The charge sheet also states that the accused, on the 1st July 2020, at Bo City did steal by trick one Samsung K6 Galaxy mobile phone valued at two million five hundred thousand Leones (Le2,500,000), property of Jestina Kallon.
The accused was not represented and so no bail application was made on his behalf.
He was remanded in custody until the 28th April 2021.
