The International Islamic Youth League (IIYL) on Monday donated 583 cartons (110,604 copies) of the Holy Quran to the Office of the First Lady of Sierra Leone as a Ramadan gift. 350 mosques will be targeted as beneficiaries in the coming days across all extremes of the country, the Chief of Staff of the Office of the First Lady announced yesterday.
Speaking during the donation at the First Lady’s Office in Freetown, Sheikh Salim Feika said that the donation of the Holy Quran with the purpose of teaching and recitation especially during this month is a blessing to the Islamic community in Sierra Leone since the Holy Quran was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad (S. A. W) during the Holy Month of Ramadan.
Nagwan Koroma, the Executive Secretary to the Global Chief Executive Officer of the International Islamic Youth League, Ambassador Ahamad Hamid Kanneh, described the donation as a priceless gift to Muslims during the Month of Ramadan, saying that the 110,604 copies of the Holy Quran also contain those ones that will provide answers to questions posed to Islamic scholars about the religion by believers of the same faith.
She announced that another donation (Eid Gift) by the International Islamic Youth League, containing a 40ft container of clothes and shoes is expected to arrive before Eid-Ul-Fitr prayer.
