Speaking at the State Opening of the Fourth Session of the Fifth Parliament yesterday, President Dr. Julius Maada Bio emphasized that his government had completed the pre-feasibility study of the 7km long Lungi Bridge and the cable- stayed design concept has been reviewed to reduce the cost of the bridge to US$1.2 Billion.
The developer to finance the bridge construction has also been identified and once ratified by Parliament work will start, according to the President.
The construction of the Lungi Bridge is one of the election manifesto commitments that candidate Dr. Julius Maada Bio made during the 2018 election campaign.
Many of the election campaign promises made by Dr. Julius Maada Bio in 2018 have now either been fulfilled or about to be implemented or they are work-in-progress.
President Dr. Julius Maada Bio is now dubbed “The Tok & Do President” by his supporters.
When he was sworn-in-as President in Aril 2018, Dr. Julius Maada Bio scrapped the construction of a new Airport at Mamamah and promised to keep the only international airport at Lungi for the good of the people of Kaffu Bullom, the airport town.
President Bio has meanwhile called on Sierra Leoneans to build “a Sierra Leone that works for all of us”.
