A Public Notice issued by the telecoms regulator (NATCOM) yesterday, states that one of the leading Mobile Network Operators, Orange (SL) Limited has been fined Le13,440,000,000 (Thirteen billion four hundred and forty million Leones) for the illegal use of Upper 6GHz Microwave transmission frequency.
According to the NATCOM Public Notice, Orange (SL) Limited should pay SLL10,752,000,000 as penalty for the illegal use of eight (8) carriers of the Upper 6GHz band for the past twoย ย ย years.
Additionally, Orange (SL) Limited should pay a fine of Le2,688,000,000 as two yearsโ spectrum fee for 280 MHz bandwidth.
Meanwhile, it has been confirmed that NRA (National Revenue Authority) is investigating Orange (SL) for tax payment irregularities amounting to Le89,000,000,000 (Eight nine billion Leones.
