As part of tradition, the Judiciary of Sierra Leone yesterday opened a Book of Condolence in memory of Justice Dr. Rosolu John Bankole Thompson who passed away on the 15th May 2021 in Freetown.
The 84-year-old Justice Thompson was one of the sole commissioners in the just concluded Commission of Inquiry (COI) instituted by the Government of Sierra Leone.
The late Justice Bankole Thompson was called to the Bar in 1971 and worked as State Counsel before he was appointed as a Judge.
In 2002, the late man was appointed to serve at the Residual Special Court for Sierra Leone.
Late Justice Bankole continued to serve at the United Nations Special Court until he was invited by President Julius Maada Bio to serve as Chairman and Sole Commissioner at theย ย COI, pursuant to Constitutional Instrument No.64 of 2018.
President of the Special Court, Justice John Mondeh Kamanda, Secretary of the Special Court and representatives from the Sierra Leone Bar Association, Law Officers Department paid glowing tributes to the late Justice Thompson.
The late Justice Bankole Thompson will be remembered for his several publications.
