The Anti-Corruption Commission yesterday announced that it had indicted two Western Area Urban DICOVERC Mobilization Officers: Gibrilla Kamara and Michael Dauda on corruption offences for the sale of Covid-19 vaccination cards to unvaccinated persons.
Gabrilla Kamara of 55 Leicester Road and Michael Dauda of 7 Mends Street, Off Circular Road in Freetown, were indicted on three counts of corrupt offences: Conspiracy to commit a corruption offence contrary to Section 128 (1); abuse of office contrary to Section 42 (1), and accepting an advantage, contrary to Section 28 (2) of the Anti-Corruption Act No 12, 2008 as amended.
The Commission said in a statement that between 1st and 5th July 2021, the accused persons conspired with unknown individuals to sell Covid-19 vaccination cards at Le 350,000 each to non-vaccinated individuals which would see them avoid taking the approved vaccines, but access Government buildings and by-pass other Covid-19 restrictions.
The accused are expected to make their first appearance before the countryโs High Court in Freetown on July 29, following their arrest in Freetown a fortnight ago in an operation organized by ACCโs Scorpion Squad after a tip- off.
