Yesterday, the European Union Ambassador, Tom Vens announced his departure to staff of the EU Delegation, the Government and People of Sierra Leone as his four-year tenure comes to an end.
The mood among EU Delegation staff at Leicester Peak yesterday was somber as a man who has made significant contributions to the country’s sustainable development trajectory is leaving. Sierra Leone as a country will be missing a great diplomat and friend in Tom Vens.
“I am profoundly proud to have served in Sierra Leone….The fond memories, the resilience and hospitality of Sierra Leoneans. It is therefore with a heavy heart that this morning, I opened the door to the office for the last time and that I have to say goodbye to you, me โSalone fambul demโ,” he said.

Ambassador Mรผller, who until now was Germany’s Ambassador to South Sudan, would take up his duties in Sierra Leone next month.
