Sierra Leone’s Minister of Energy, Alhaji Kanja Sesay, has visited Moyamba Town to deliver a huge consignment of electricity materials aimed at accelerating the stringing of the transmission and distribution infrastructure or lines in the town.
This stringing, which represents a very important stage or component of the Moyamba Township Electrification Project, is now at an impressively advanced stage, with the Minister having previously delivered huge consignments of similar materials.
Receiving and welcoming the Minister, Moyamba District Council Chairman, Joseph Mbogba, thanked the Minister on behalf of his people and asked him to convey the gratitude of the people of Moyamba to His Excellency President Dr. Julius Maada Bio.
Mr. Mbogba expressed delight and satisfaction over the way the contractors were carrying on with their work, describing the pace of work as rapid and speedy. He concluded by saying that the people of Moyamba had seen light at the end of their 40-year-dark tunnel.
While handing over the eight (8) 40ft containers of electricity items to the contractors, Energy Minister, Alhaji Kanja Sesay, said he was in the town to fulfil President Julius Maada Bio’s promise to the people in that part of the country, adding that on the two previous occasions that he was in the town, he had delivered consignments of transformers and concrete poles.
Mr. Sesay said he was pleased to see that the erection of poles in the town had taken place at a stunning pace. He said his presence in Moyamba to deliver the materials was a demonstration of his commitment to superintending over a successfully implemented electricity project for Moyamba.
Operations Manager, Vaari Electrical Pvt Ltd. & Abbi Associate Consortium, Nikkil Raj, said his company was implementing the project, adding that erection of poles had almost been completed, with groundwork for laying of panels having also kicked off.
Mr. Raj listed the quantity of assorted materials that his company had received, noting that what they were receiving from the Minister was a huge quantity of distribution and transmission materials.
There has been no shortage of patriotic efforts and commitment from the Minister of Energy in seeing to it that the Moyamba electrification project was completed within the expected timeframe.
