On allegation of embezzlement of over two Hundred Million Leones, Principal Magistrate Sahr Kekura of Pademba Road Court No.1 in Freetown has remanded Mohamed Suluku Kamara, Operations Manager at the Dynalab Sierra Leone Company Limited.
The accused person Mohamed Suluku Kamara on 13th September 2021, made his first appearance on a one count charge of embezzlement contrary to Section 17 sub-section (1b) of the Larceny Act 1916.
The particulars, according to Police charge sheet, state that the accused person, Mohamed Suluku Kamara on Tuesday 1st April and Wednesday 30th June 2021 in Freetown, being an employee of Dynalab Sierra Leone Company Limited, fraudulently embezzled a total sum of two hundred and forty four Million, eight hundred and ninety nine thousand Leone (Le244,899, 000, 00), being proceeds from sales of standardized herbs and nutrition supplements.
No plea was taken by the accused person. The defence counsel, Timbo on behalf of Mohamed Suluku Kamara made a bail application pursuant to Section 79 of the Criminal Procedure Act No.32 of 1965.
The prosecutor Lawyer Sahid Mohamed Sesay in reply opposed to defence counselโs bail application on grounds of the serious nature of the offence.
Mohamed Suluku Kamara was refused bail and has been remanded at the Maximum Male Correctional Centre in Freetown.
The matter was adjourned to 20th September, 2021.
