Sexual Penetration Accused Discharged

One of the Judges presiding at the Sexual Offences Model Court, Justice Suliaman Bah yesterday discharged a 23-year -old male construction worker, Lamin Kanneh for want of prosecution on a sexual penetration indictment, pursuant to Section 19 of the Sexual Offences Act No.12 of 2012.

The accused person, Lamin Kanneh was discharged by the trial Judge based on an application for a discharge by the State Prosecutor, Alberta Kargbo.

Lawyer Alberta Kargbo told the court that she wishes not to proceed with the matter based on an information of the child victim`s parents that they no longer want to proceed with the matter in court.

Lamin Kanneh has since 26th January, 2020 been attending court trial with twenty eight adjournments at the instant of the prosecution and with no evidence-led.

The particulars of offence state that on a date unknown, between the 1st January 2019 and 31st of September 2019 in Freetown, the accused did sexually penetrate a girl child below the age of eighteen to wit, three years old.

Another sexual penetration accused person, Chernor Kalilu Jalloh was on the 8th October, 2021 granted One Hundred Million Leones bail by Justice Sulaiman Bah.

Chernor Kalilu Jallon, a Guinean male foreign national pleaded with the court to discharge him as he has no one to assist him for the bail terms and conditions.

The matter has been adjourned.
