Excellency,
It gives me great pleasure to invite you to serve as Member of the Advisory Board of the United Nations
Institute for Training and Research’s (UNITAR) Division for Mutilateral Diplomacy for a two-year term
from January 2022 to December, 2024.
UNITAR is a key resource within the United Nations system aiming to empower individuals, govenments and organizatons through knowledge and learning to effectively overcome contemporary global challenges. UNITAR offers various training and capacity-development acivities in the thematic areas for the 2030 Agenda: Strengthening multiateralism; Promoting economic development and social
incdusion; Advancing environmental sustainability and green development; Promoting sustainable peace; and Research and Technology Applications.
Within the framework of the institute, the Division for Mutilateral Diplomacy Supports the intergovernmental machinery and governing bodies of the United Nations by empowering delegates and dipiomats. strengthening mutualeralism entails working hand in hand with the ministries in charge
of mutilateral negotiations and the Secretariat of Unted Nations agencies in view of delivering capacity building projects that cover the thematic areas of work of the United Nations.
The primary purpose of the Advisory Board is to provide guidance and leadership that would enable the
Division to deliver on its mandate and overcome the major multilateral challenges facing the United Nations. The Advisory Board will also provide critical analysis of the activities of the Division for Mutiateral Diplomacy to ensure the respect ol quality standards in compliance with the UNITTAR
mandate and UN guidelines (please refer to the Terms of Reference and Appointment). Members of the Advisory board are appointed in their personal capacity and meet once a year in Geneva.
