The SLPP Chairman, Kono District, Mr. Safea Leslie Moiwa and members of his executive last week made an on-the-spot working visit to the construction site of the Kono University of Science and Technology in Koidu Town.
Speaking to the Global Times, The Kono district SLPP Chairman noted that, their visit to the construction site was part of their routine exercise to monitor all government developmental projects within the district to make sure that work is done as expected by the government and people of Kono district.
He further said that with the kind of speed and effectiveness of the job done so far by the contractors at the university construction site, they are fully satisfied and impressed with the work.
It would be recalled that on the 19th November 2021, President Bio turned the sod for the construction of the Kono University of Science and Technology, once it is complete it will be the second university in the Eastern region after the Eastern Technical University in Kenema.
At the turning of the sod ceremony for the construction of the University, President Bio said, it was indeed a happy day for Kono as he had gone there to fulfill a major manifesto promise he made in 2018 when he said he would construct a modern university for the people of Kono, adding that he was hopeful the institution would better translate the slogan that wise men come from the East.
“Throughout the history of this country, Kono district has been deprived of many facilities. Kono district has added greatly to the development of this nation. Under my leadership as President, I am going to correct this social injustice that Kono has faced for quite a long time. The New Direction government is here to leave a lasting legacy for the future of our children in Kono district,” he assured.
In another development, Chairman Moiwa and his executive also visited the construction of two bridges linking Sandor Chiefdom in Kono District and Falaba District in the North, which will open up that part of the country for commercial and economic activities.
