After an independent investigation was conducted by the ACC (Anti Corruption Commission) into reports that the Sierra Leone Correctional Services had refused to pay Misheal Kay Construction and General Supplies for the supply of rice for Officers and Inmates, the Commission has concluded that the Correctional Services owes Misheal Kay Construction and General Supplies an outstanding balance of Le1,191,594,920.
The ACC has urged the Correctional Services “to proceed with aspects of the contract with respect to the outstanding amount owed to the contractor”.
According to a leaked ACC report seen by the Global Times last night, “Our investigation has established no evidence of misappropriation of public funds and/or breach of procurement procedures and related procurement fraud or corruption either by the contractor or the SLCS”.
The ACC praised Misheal Kay Construction and General Supplies for complying fully with the terms of the contract signed with the Sierra Leone Correctional Services.
The ACC have made it crystal clear that they do not intend to take any further action on the matter. They have however asked the Sierra Leone Correctional Services to immediately pay Misheal Kay Construction and General Supplies the outstanding amount owing to the company.
This is victory for Ibrahim Misheal Kallon, one of the youngest, hard-working and honest indigenous businessmen in Sierra Leone. It shows that his company has been doing clean business in and out of Sierra Leone.
