Following the establishment of the 21-man APC Interim leadership committee, some young, exuberant and inexperienced politicians have emerged to assume leadership roles in the party. Some of them are bent on institutionalizing thuggery and violence in the body politic of the country. They forget to realise that the days of politics of gangsterism have been relegated to the dustbin of history.
Hon. Abdul Kargbo has been accused of calling on APC party supporters and members to โbulldozeโ their way through Police checkpoints mounted along the entrance of Samabaia Bendugu in Tonkolili district last Saturday.
The same APC lawmaker has been accused of inciting some young party hooligans to vandalize electricity installations in Lungi arguing that improved electricity will bring praises to the current Vice President, Dr Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh who hails from that community.
One of his closest political allies, Councillor Ibrahim Sankoh, who led the vandals, is on the run following the issuance of an international Police warrant for his arrest.
Virtually squeezed to near non-existence in Kaffu-Bullom and the rest of Port Loko district, Hon Abdul Kargbo has embarked on constantly attacking the Hon Vice President, Dr Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh who he sees as the main force behind the declining fortunes of the APC party in the North.
He sees the VP as the man who has totally wiped him and others out of the political landscape in Kaffu Bullom and Port Loko at large. He is accused of sponsoring negative write-ups against the VP on several social media platforms claiming that he does not hail from Kaffu Bullom. The fact of the matter is that, Hon Abdul Kargbo is not a true indigene of the chiefdom.
Some senior stakeholders from that chiefdom have claimed that Hon. Abdul Kargboโs father was posted to serve as a soldier at the Lungi Military Barracks where he (Hon Abdul Kargbo) was born.
The stakeholders are now insisting that anyone who does not want development in the chiefdom such as electricity and bore holes should leave them in peace. Equally, this is a stark warning to the Honourable VP who embraces all these bad guys in Port Loko particularly Hon Abdul Kargbo in the name of promoting cohesion in the region.
It is now evidently clear that the politics of gangsterism that is being practised by some new breed members of the APC is a response to the declining fortunes of the party in the North. They see Vice President Dr Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh as a thorn in their flesh especially in the Northern Region, where the VP naturally hails from.
Reliable sources have hinted that Hon Abdul Kargbo will soon been questioned by the Police for allegedly instigating the violence that took place in Constituency 056 in Tonkolili district last Saturday ahead of crucial Parliamentary bye-elections slated for 25th June.
