One of the most organised and vibrant chapters of the SLPP, the Washington DC Metro Chapter, headed by the dynamic Mrs Fatmata Dausy Wurie on Sunday, July 24, 2022 organised a welcome dinner party in honour of HE Ambassador Alhaji Brima Elvis Koroma (Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to Senegal) who is currently on a private visit to the United States of America.
The Chapter’s Chairman, Mrs. Fatmata Dausy Wurie, used the occasion to recognise and appreciate two distinguished members of the party for their dedication and service to the party for well over twenty years.
Ambassador Alhaji Brima Koroma and Chairman Sorie Fofana were openly recognised for their dedication to and support for the SLPP.
In his brief remarks, Chairman Sorie Fofana described the SLPP Washington DC Metro Chapter as one of the most organised chapters of the SLPP.
He called on members and supporters of the SLPP in the whole of the United States of America to return home and register to vote in the June 2023 elections.
Chairman Sorie Fofana called on them to register and vote massively for President Dr Julius Maada Bio and the SLPP to avoid a runoff in June 2023. He also appealed to party members to put the bitter past behind them and unite firmly behind the candidature of President Dr. Julius Maada Bio.
Ambassador Alhaji Brima Koroma also spoke along similar lines and called on party members to let bygones be bygones and vote “wutehteh” for HE President Dr Julius Maada Bio and the SLPP in June 2023 to avoid a runoff.
Sierra Leone’s amiable Ambassador to Washington, Ambassador Sidique Abou-Bakarr Wai, reinforced his belief that, President Dr Julius Maada Bio is the best President Sierra Leone has ever had. He described President Bio as “a man who loves his country and his people”.
The dynamic Chairman of the SLPP Washington DC Metro Chapter, Mrs. Fatmata Dausy Wurie, also called for party unity and advocated for the full implementation of the 30% quota for women in elective and appointive positions.
The welcome party was attended by some dedicated members of the SLPP and staff of the Sierra Leone Embassy in Washington.
The MC for the night was the great Ann-Marie Williams of the SLPP Washington DC Metro Chapter.
