Several Presidential nominees, including the Board Chairman of the National Civil Registration Authority (NCRA), Mr. Sorie Fofana, Mr. William Fayia Sellu who is the proposed Inspector General of the Sierra Leone Police, proposed Director General Correctional Services and Deputy Director, proposed Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations (Political Division) Ngor Amara Sowa and others, were yesterday interviewed by members of the Parliamentary Committee on Appointments and the Public Service.
The interviews were conducted in Committee Room No.1, House of Parliament, on Tower Hill in Freetown, chaired by the outspoken Leader of Government Business, Honorable Mathew Sahr Nyuma, as Chairman of the said Committee in Parliament.
Honorable Members from both the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) and the opposition All Peoples Congress (APC) headed by Hon. Chernor Bah, Coalition For Change (C4C) Leader in Parliament Saa Emmerson Lamina and Paramount Chief Members of Parliament constitute the Committee. They asked questions bothering on the respective positions for which nominations were made.
The Presidential nominees confidently responded to questions posed to them by Committee Members based on their Curriculum Vitae (CVs) submitted to the Committee.
“If and when approved by this Honourable House, I urge you to work with the Director General of NCRA to ensure that all citizens and non-citizens resident in Sierra Leone get their National Identification Cards,” the Committee Chairman, Honourable Mathew Sahr Nyuma requested the proposed NCRA Board Chairman, Mr. Sorie Fofana.
