On the 18th of August 2022 Peter Koroma, Mohamed Sesay and Francis Bangura (members of the Kaffu Bullom Youth Progress Organisation) all of Lungi Town in the Kaffu Bullum chiefdom Port Loko District Northern Sierra Leone, escaped from Lungi Police Station.
According to reliable sources, Peter Koroma and his colleagues were arrested and detained for alleged riotous conduct, attempted coup and murder, as their organisation the Kaffu Bullom Youth Progress Organisation where protesting against bad governance, economic hardship, police brutality, killing of innocent civilians by security forces etc.
The sources further said Peter Koroma and others were arrested at the entrance of Lungi International Airport where they were peacefully protesting with placards to express their grievances, they were taken to the Lungi Police Station and detained. They spent two nights in police custody where they were beaten and maltreated so badly. They later escaped from the police with the help of some community people who believed that they were unlawfully detained for political reasons.
According to the Police Press Release which reads “Three Suspects Peter Koroma, Mohamed Sesay and Francis Bangura who were in detention awaiting prosecution have escaped from detention. We have released a toll line free to everyone who may come across them. We called on the community and the nation as a whole to help in the arrest of the following suspects to face justice”.
