Justice Mohamed Bawoh, a High Court Judge sitting in Freetown, has in a Garnishee civil matter, discharged the Standard Chartered Bank and four other Commercial Banks including United Bank of Africa, EcoBank, Vista Bank and Skye Bank which denied having account with the defendants` debtor, the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) and the President (SLFA).
The decision of the Judge is based on an application for a discharge made by Lawyer Hassan Kamara, Counsel representing the Plaintiff Applicants, Ibrahim Koroma and Samuel Barlay after receiving letters from the five banks, indicating that they had no account with the defendants.
At the mention of the matter, Lead Plaintiff Counsel, Mohamed Pa. Momoh Fofana informed the Judge that the defendant counsel is yet to file in a reply which he said is about treating the court with the seriousness it deserves.
Lawyer Mohamed Pa. Momoh Fofana urged the Judge to proceed with the matter in view of the fact the defendant has not treated the Court with respect.
Justice Mohamed Bawoh has ordered for a notice to be sent to the other remaining banks, and has adjourned hearing for today, 30th August 2022.
The matter before the court is an Ex-Parte Notice of Motion filed for and on behalf of the Plaintiffs` Applicants dated 27th July,2022 with an affidavit in support; sworn to by Hassan Kamara together with the exhibits attached.
