Popular businessman and sports promoter, Mohamed Gento Kamara of Gento Group has declared his intention to aspire for the post of Mayor of Freetown Municipality under the banner of the ruling SLPP.
He has promised to solve the basic needs of citizens of the Municipality of Freetown City Council including hygiene.
While addressing a mammoth crowd of people from all walks of life who gathered to welcome him from a private visit to the United Kingdom, Mr Kamara assured them of working in the interest of all Freetownians resident within the Municipality.
Thousands of people including bike riders, football clubs and their supporters, market women, and politicians gathered at sea coach park, Murray Town, despite the rain to welcome him and his lawyer wife, Mrs. Tuma Adama Gento Kamara.
They drove along the major streets of Freetown down to the headquarters of the SLPP at Wallace Johnson Street, where they were officially welcomed by the party executive and some stakeholders of the party, singing songs of praise in honour of the Mayoral aspirant. Most of these people described him as the game changer.
Welcoming Gento and his wife, the SLPP Regional Chairman for Western Area, Hon. Manso A. Dumbuya said the huge crowd of people is a clear manifestation that Freetownians are determined more than ever before to deliver the Mayorship to the SLPP and they are ready for positive change.
Responding, Mr. Mohamed Gento Kamara expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to SLPP supporters, the executive and other groups for welcoming him and my his wife, adding that the mammoth crowd under the heavy downpour of rain is a clear indication that the people are determined to change the narrative at FCC.
He therefore noted that by the grace of God, he would use all his resources for this dream to come true.
He continued that he has three projects namely; sanitation, water and sustainable electricity to the city of Freetown.
He confirmed that he is more than determined to contest for the Mayoral seat of FCC.
