Bo Stakeholders on Saturday 17th September 2022 hosted a dinner in honour of the Inspector General of Police, William Fayia Sellu during his first official visit to Bo since his appointment as Inspector General of Police by President Julius Maada Bio.
The colourful ceremony which was held on Saturday 17th September 2022 at Dohas Hotel Torwama Road in Bo attracted people from all walks of life including the Regional Police Commander South AIG Hillary Sao Kanu and the rank and file of police, Bo business community and the press among others.
Welcoming the Inspector General of Police at the ceremony, a strong Member of the Bo Stakeholders believed to be a daughter of the soil, Madam Amie Moriba said the dinner was hosted to celebrate the Inspector General of Police William Fayia Sellu for his hardwork while he was the Local Unit Commander Bo West Police Division and later Regional Police Commander South, the positions he served unblemished and diligently especially when the city was a hot spot for hard core criminals who were on the rampage terrorizing peaceful citizens in Bo .
Madam Amie Moriba praised the Inspector General of Police William Fayia Sellu whom she deservingly described as a police role model and further praised him for his exemplary police strategies to maintaining peace, stability and security in the Southern Region.
She referred to William Fayia Sellu as a decent and disciplined police officer who has passion for his job.
She furthered that William Fayia Sellu served the people of Bo in general and the Southern region in particular in maintaining law and order noting that he is the right man in the right place.
Madam Moriba encouraged the people of Bo to continue giving their support to the Inspector General of Police William Fayia Sellu to succeed in his administration as head of the Sierra Leone Police Force.
She maintained that Bo Stakeholders will continue to celebrate the Inspector General of Police William Fayia Sellu because of the good work he did in Bo city when he was performing his official duties notably as the Regional Police Commander South.
Madam Amie Moriba told the jam-packed gathering that the name William Fayia Sellu will forever remain in the minds of many people in that part of the country.
She also expressed thanks to the President of Police Wives Association Mrs Doris Sellu wife of the Inspector General of Police for making it possible for her lovely husband to attend the ceremony which she described as an historical event.
Giving a brief background of Bo Stakeholders, Mrs Isatu Turner informed that Bo stakeholders is a non-political organization aimed at promoting peace and unity in the city of Bo.
She said Bo stakeholders was formed immediately after the appointment of William Fayia Sellu as Inspector General of Police by the President.
According to Mrs Isatu Turner, the dinner organized by Bo Stake holders was to give back to the Inspector General of Police William Fayia Sellu for his outstanding relationship with the people of Bo referring to the cordial relationship as unbreakable.
She expressed thanks and appreciation to William Fayia Sellu and wife Mrs Doris Sellu for attending the ceremony.
The Assistant Chief of Defence Staff Brigadier Abu Bakkar Conteh, the former Brigade Commander 5th Infantry Gondama who was a distinguished guest at the ceremony said he enjoyed working with William Fayia Sellu when he was the Commander at Gondama noting that the same love that was showed to William Fayia Sellu was also extended to him by the people of Bo.
Brigadier Abu Bakkar Conteh noted that President Bio made no mistake to appoint William Fayia Sellu as the Inspector General of the Sierra Leone Police. He thanked Bo Stakeholders for their wonderful gesture.
Speaking on behalf of the business community in Bo , a popular business tycoon and philanthropist Alhaji Alusine Kamara noted that the business community in this part of the country appreciates the Police IG for a job well done during his time of office in Bo .
Alhaji Alusine Kamara however showered praises on IG William Fayia Sellu and assured him of their fullest support and cooperation.
In his keynote address, the celebrant William Fayia Sellu expressed his heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Bo Stakeholders for their laudable gesture to celebrate him together with his wife.
IG William Fayia Sellu said in his thirty-nine in the police force he hold the people of Bo in high esteem for the love and respect showed to him as gratitude for the services he rendered to them.
The Inspector General of Police revealed that he was first transferred to Bo as the Local Unit Commander and later as the Regional Police Commander South during the Corona-19 pandemic noting that during those trying times, he enjoyed good working relationship with the people of Bo and the entire Southern region.
He said the dinner organised by Bo stakeholders came as a surprise to him stating that he felt honoured for the love Bo stakeholders demonstrated during his official visit to Bo city. William Fayia Sellu said the dinner showcases that he was in the good books of the people in Bo.
He assured that the 10th August scenario will never repeat itself as security forces are on top of the situation. The police IG urged citizens to be law abiding and maintain peace before, after elections noting that the police is poised to provide adequate security in the 2023 general elections and encouraged meaningful Sierra Leoneans to go about their normal business as the country is relatively safe.
The Amazing Dance Band was in attendance with a side show performance by Rev, Justine Marva who thrilled the show with a song give peace a chance .
