The Sierra Leone Peopleโs Party Southern Region Chairman, Alhaji Kanja Sesay, has told Muslim religious leaders in the South that the voter registration exercise was something they should take seriously, urging them to use their platforms in their various mosques to educate their congregation on the process.
He commended the Imams for honouring him as Father of Imams in the South, noting that he had always been on hand in respect of matters of Islam not only in the Southern Region but the entire country.
Alhaji Kanja Sesay noted that Imams had always been held in high esteem, describing them as shining examples and leading lights in their communities. He therefore urged them to use those statuses to sensitize their congregation on the importance of the voter registration exercise.
He informed the gathering that he was satisfied with the figures churned out by the South after Phase One of the Voter Registration exercise and attributed that success to the Imams.
Director General of NASSIT, Fuad Dabor, stressed the importance of Imams and the critical or moral guarantor roles they play in society.
The engagement, which took place in Bo City, was chaired by Sheikh Osman Kiawo.
