The matter between the State against Alimamy Kamara, former Honorable Member of Parliament, former Minister of Youth Affairs and former Ambassador to the Islamic Republic of Iran has been adjourned to the 10th October 2022 for ruling on a no case submission.
The matter came up yesterday at the Anti- Corruption Court on Siaka Stevens Street, main Law Courts Building in Freetown.
The accused person, Ambassador Alimamy Kamara, his Defense Counsel, Africanus Sorie Sesay and the State Prosecutor from the Anti- Corruption Commission (ACC), Joel T. Tarawallie were all at the ACC Court Room No. 7 waiting for the Judge to deliver ruling on the no case application.
While waiting on the Judge, one of the Court Registrars, on the instruction of the Judge, came and informed that the matter would not go ahead due to an interruption of document files in the Judge’s computer.
Justice Hannah Bonnie, through the Registrar, extended her sincere apology to Counsels and the accused person who is coming from Makeni, Northern District of Sierra Leone to attend Court sittings in Freetown.
Justice Bonnie adjourned the matter to Friday…. but the accused person suggested Monday, 10th October 2022 which was agreed to by both the State Prosecutor and Defense Counsel.
The accused person, Ambassador Alimamy Kamara is before the Court answering to related criminal corruption offences, ranging from failure to declare his asset throughout his service in government under the past administration of the All People’s Congress (APC) led by former President, Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma.
The Prosecution had closed its case against the accused person after leading several witnesses; and the Defense has made a no case submission on behalf of the accused person, Ambassador Alimamy Kamara.
