To commemorate the 60th anniversary of the diplomatic relationship between Korea and Sierra Leone, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Prof. David Francis yesterday officially opened a week long cultural exhibition. The ceremony attracted government functionaries, a cross section of the business people and staff of the Freetown City Council.
Speaking at the occasion, the Korean Ambassador to Sierra Leone HE Kim Young Chae said “we are gathered here today at this magnificent building as a result of the partnership between the two countries resulting to the construction of this building by the Koreans. He said during this period the Korean people will display their culture and arts, noting that the Korean will display music and also share their experience with their Sierra Leonean counterparts.
The Korean envoy thanked the Mayor of the Freetown municipality for hosting them and assured all and sundry that the government and people of Korea will continue to maintain the already cordial diplomatic relationship between the two countries.
The Mayor of the Freetown City Council Yvonne Aki- Sawyer said it is a pleasure of the city council to host this occasion, noting that she recalled when she visited Korea in 2018 and with what she saw in Korea, Sierra Leone will make it as a developed country just as the Koreans.
She appealed to Freetonians to make use of the Korean cultural exhibition by visiting the city council to observe the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relationship between the two countries.
