Since President Brig. (Rtd) Julius Maada Bio came to power in April 2018, he has been very busy talking to genuine foreign investors to come to Sierra Leone and invest in the mining, agriculture, fisheries and other sectors. The President’s personal credibility is now a huge collateral for Sierra Leone.
For the first time in the history of Sierra Leone, a Norwegian-registered mining company is coming to Sierra Leone to invest an estimated US$250M (Two hundred and fifty million United States Dollars) in the mining sector. They have shown great interest in gold mining for a start. They have acquired licences to mine gold in the Kailahun district.
For the past several days, the company’s personnel have been busy clearing machines and other mining equipment from the main sea port in Freetown. This shows that, Bravura Mining Company (SL) Limited have great confidence in the leadership and conducive investment environment in Sierra Leone.
Before now, some briefcase investors from Europe and Asia come to this country and obtain lucrative mining concessions which they end up selling to the highest bidder in Europe and Asia. The highest bidder in most cases end up investing a pittance. They set up small offices or cubicles, rent vehicles and mining equipment and call themselves foreign investors. They are nothing but crooks and middlemen.
Bravura Mining Company (SL) Limited have demonstrated that they are a serious company ready and capable of investing heavily in Sierra Leone. They have started employing Sierra Leoneans especially in areas in which they operate. They are ready to create thousands of jobs, pay all their taxes, bring in foreign currency and develop the areas in which they operate.
Patriotic Sierra Leoneans and friends of Sierra Leone must come together and welcome Bravura Mining Company (SL) Limited to Sierra Leone. They are here to open the door for other big and serious players in the mining sector in Europe and Asia to come to Sierra Leone and invest.
President Bio has consistently assured genuine foreign investors of the safety and security of their investments.
We thank a Sierra Leonean lawmaker with strong ties to Norway, Hon. Alusine Kanneh of the ruling SLPP, for bringing the Norwegians to Sierra Leone.
We welcome Bravura Mining Company (SL) Limited.
We wish to assure foreign investors that Sierra Leone is still open for business.
Thank you, Bravura Mining Company (SL) Limited!
